"AC/DC SYDNEY HAMPTON COURT HOTEL MARCH 1974 *** audience recording *** transfer from tape to CD-R (unknown) > trade > CD-R > EAC > WAVE > FLAC Tracks: SOUL STRIPPER NO PARTICULAR PLACE TO GO STAY FOR A WHILE CAROL IT'S ALL OVER NOW JUMPIN' JACK FLASH ROCK & ROLL SINGER BLUE SUEDE SHOES / SHAKE RATTLE & ROLL / TUTTI FRUTTI ROCKIN' IN THE PARLOUR BYE BYE JOHNNY LUCILLE ALL RIGHT NOW BABY PLEASE DON'T GO HONKY TONK WOMEN Line up: Angus Young (guitar) Malcolm Young (guitar) Dave Evans (vocals) Neil Smith (bass) Noel Tylor (drums) This is the earliest known recording of AC/DC doing a gig in March 1974 in Sydney (exact date unknown) just a few weeks after forming the band and playing their first live set at Chequers Club in Sydney on New Years Eve 1973/74. At the time the boys were playing four nights a weeks at Hampton Court Hotel. The recording comes from Dave Evans archives and there was a Bootleg double vinyl released a few weeks ago called IN THE BEGINNING (Vol. 1 & 2) which is limited to 200 copies. This here is not a copy of the vinyl but a direct copy of Dave Evans tape. It is just what it is - a poor quality document of the very early days of the band. FOR FANS ONLY - ENJOY !" My friends is getting it from dimeadozen.org. It is fake?

Dude, your friends getting it, you should be getting it too. It's actually pretty good, considering the age of the tape used (been sitting around uncirculated for at least 30 years), the way it was taped (I found out from etree.org that it was recorded with a tape recorder that was sitting on Angus's amp, bad decision, seeing as we all know how Ang and Mal's guitars are set up, even back then, it was the same), and the fact that it was mainly a jam type session. Mostly covers from Chuck Berry (No Particular Place To Go), and a few Rolling Stones songs (All Over Now, Jumpin' Jack Flash, and Honky Tonk Women, any others?), but the "jewels" so to speak from this performance are the AC/DC originals (Soul Stripper, Rock and Roll Singer, and Rockin' In The Parlour, the first two have slightly different lyrics than Bon's final versions). So yeah, even though the sound quality is 5/10, the collector's value is 100/10 seeing as this is the only recording with Dave Evans (other than Dave's own Bon tribute album "A Hell Of A Night" and the first AC/DC single).

It was actually set on top one of the monitors. Its original purpose was to help the new drummer learn the songs, but Dave had other plans. Sold it to a collector who, in turn, pressed and sold it. Now, I've heard various people say that the vinyl is remastered, whereas the CD is not. Any truth to this?

Nightprowler has said it to me on IMs himself that with that one, he remastered the vinyl but included the original recording on a CD-R. I ain't 100% positve, but I think he also said that he remasters all the vinyls he makes.
