Double Layer Dvd bootlegs?
What do you think about this? Are you agree about releasing bootlegs in double layer dvd´s?
if the content is worthwhile, then yeah. if it's something taken from a single layer and re-recorded to a double, then no. all depends on what it is, imo.
No, the idea is to make 2 dvd bootlegs into one double layer bootleg. Because actually there are appearing many bootlegs in 2 dvd´s from masters or 1st gen vhs´s The idea of re-encode single layer dvd´s is not a good idea.
Agreed, single layer to double layer = wasted space 2 DVD shows (from master/1st gen VHS at high quality) = greatest idea since bootleging started!!
Let's stick with 2 DVD. Dual layer blanks are very expensive. 100 single layers are about $30-40, whereas only 50 dual layer blanks are about $120. It's more cost efficient to do a 2 DVD set (there is also more space, about 8.6 GB vs. 7.7). The main arguement for DL's is that there's no gap in the show. It's worked for 15 years with CDs. Dual layer blanks are just too expensive to be worth it right now. On the same note, in a few years, I think we'll start seeing Blu-ray bootlegs.
In case any of the Riff Raff members care, acdcUSSR mentioned about the Blu-ray bootlegs in the future. Here is some information about the HD-DVD technology vs. Blu-ray technology that is coming. Enjoy! HD-DVD HD-DVD is a new generation of discs and players. They store and run digital data, including videos. Features: 30 gigabytes on two layers, uses HDi technology from Microsoft for interactivity, more audio capability than DVDs Number of titles: 125 Pros: Compatible with standard DVDs where HD-DVDs can play on DVD players. Cheaper price at $500 per player. HD-DVD for Xbox 360 inexpensive at $199. Some HD-DVD discs can play in older DVD players Cons: Smaller disc capacity. Fewer supporters among studios and consumer electronics companies. Major studio supporters: Universal, Paramount and Warner Bros. Blu-ray Blu-ray refers to a new generation of discs and players that store and run digital data, including videos. Features: Discs have 50 gigabytes on two layers. Player plays video at 1080p, six times as much picture detail as a regular DVD and uses Java programming for interactivity Number of titles: 107 Pros: Larger disc capacity. Blu-ray players can accommodate older DVDs. Included in every PlayStation 3. Blu-ray burners available. Cons: Prices are higher for now. Blu-ray discs cannot play on older DVD players. Major studio supporters: Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, MGM, Warner Home Video, Buena Vista Entertainment (Disney), Lions Gate Entertainment
Ehh, Java? I don't like that idea one bit, what if a bad bootleger got a hold of a BluRay? Then he could hack every computer on the net. But then again, Microsoft HDi, just the name Microsoft sounds bad.
Gonna have to agree with Travis on this one; anything Microsoft = potentially bad mojo. Er...nothing against you, mojo, lol.
um... sorry to sound stupid(hey its my middle name) I saw what acdc74 posted about Blu-ray discs, but what exactly are they. Sorry to waist anybodys time, I'm just curious.
He explained them. If it's look taht our thinking of then they look just like normal dvd's/cd's. Blu ray discs one the most anticipated product is a single-layer disc which can hold 25GB or 50 GB, record over 2 hours of HDTV or more than 13 hours of standard-definition TV. Source
