Does anybody have these in mp3? I'd love to hear them.

They are on the ConnecteD part of acdcrocks.com. Just follow the instructions (you need the Powerage CD).

But on my computer they skip every few seconds, and well, I'd need to use audacity to record them, and they'd probably wind up sounding like crap anyway (transcoding from whatever format sony uses --> mp3). And besides, I'd like to hear them in a unaltered format, seeing as the ones on the Sony site might actually have been altered. Anyone else willing to upload them?

Trav, if you're still having no joy getting MP3 versions, i could burn you a true signal copy on CD from either the original issue (minus R'n'R Damnation) or the reissue which includes it (the single version that fades out) and post it to you if ya want.....

Send an email with your address then. No problems puttin' High Voltage on, if it takes another CD then i'll just do a compilation for you.

Ha ha, Trav, it's so clear the point where they drop Bon in to sing 'stormdrain' on Down Payment sticks out like a sore thumb.

Hmm, I'll have to give a listen to that...to see if it sticks out on the remaster...or if George Marino and Epic fixed it like they did Donington's stuff.

Nah man, save overdubs, nothing was touched after recording. They've mixed two entirely different versions at Alberts then sent both mixes, most probably at different times, to be mastered. The UK got the first version ('short version' minus 'Damnation') 5th May '78, the US got the 'short version? (can someone confirm?) 25th May '78, and the Aussies got the 'longer' version with 'Damnation' and the longer version of 'Down Payment..etc, but they didn't get 'Cold Hearted Man'. All the available CD's of Powerage feature the 'longer' mixes, even the Alberts copy. Someone should get their ass kicked for leaving out 'Cold Hearted Man', one of their best tunes imo, and I thought it was completely pathetic that it wasn't given the treatment for 'Bonfire' either. Proving the point of Nate's site being more rewarding of the bands music than any record company you could care to mention ;-)

Yep, that's true, and if it weren't for damned copyright laws (or I guess yall would say "the bloody copyright laws"), we could share even more, heck, he could probably share the mp3 rip of the vhs version of Live At Donington.

Just a quick thought I know you are all taking about the two well known versions of the mixes from Powerage, But I have a Spainish import version of Powerage on vinyl that has yet a nother set of mixes to those normally spoken about, as soon as I find a way to convert vinyl to mp3 i'd love to let you hear them. I also seem to remember reading a book years ago that said that yet another mix existed on the vinyl realease in Argentina???

I've got a '78 Spanish copy too with thin to thick white spine with title written like <>, blue label with titles in Spanish too. Mix is the same as CD version, running order slightly different tho. Have fourteen different versions (nuts, i know) but have only heard two mixes. Have noticed slight variations in fades on 'Gone Shootin' between a few of them, most noteable on a German cassette version but that's about it. (Spen, if you wanna burn your vinyl to MP3, try using Nero/Goldwave/Toast+jam from Roxio or one of the freebies depending on what you're running). Would love to hear if they were indeed different mixes bud...

Personally, I think this shows that even though newer music may suck, labels are becoming more organized and more and more willing to get the releases consistent around the globe. I heard that Atlantic was actually in a bit of a rush to get Powerage out in the U.K. And we all know about the Atlantic debut from AC/DC, High Voltage which is the Epic remaster version as well...

Just on a slightly different tangent , does anyone know if Cold Hearted Man was ever performed live by Bon ?

That'll most probably be a negative I would think Spen.

I don't think it would have been, seeing as it has now fallen into the category that only B-Sides are in, it wouldn't have been performed live. It's kinda like Carry Me Home, Borderline, and Cyberspace, great tracks, possibly not great sounding live though.

that is an interesting point, but i think it could have been a possibility to have been done live (even though it might not have been) but for a good majority of time the tracks "Rocker" and "Baby Please Don't Go" were in that category in the U.S., of course until they got Released on Dirty Deeds, and '74 Jailbreak, but they were performed live here in the U.S. with most people having no idea about them since they were Australia only tracks up until Rocker being released in '81 and Baby Please Don't Go in '84, so there is a chance it was done live

I think this is an interesting thread to start , tracks that have never been performed live or very rarely , I think Down Payment Blues is quite rare as a live track , I have only one version from Newcastle '78, Crabsody in Blue would be another track that I dont think was ever performed live

Love Song and Stick Around would also be ones in that category, also R.I.P is one, the closest Love Song has been done live is when Angus did the intro right before Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap to trick the audience i guess
