The latest update Stiff Upper Lip - April 17 reissue

Epic is going to rerelaase Stiff Upper Lip on April 17th, firstly, I'd like to know if Nate has anything planned for that day in terms of anything extra on the site. And B), I'd like to know if any of yall plan to go buy it. And C), could this mean that AC/DC's new album that we've been waiting on for years is just around the corner (as in possibly May) ? The theory behind a May release date in my mind is this, Epic wouldn't release a new album and a reissue of the same band in the same month, since it'd force the fans of that band to decide if they want the new copy of an old album, or a brand-new album. And also, release it in May, film a music video, release it a week afterwards, do a 10-15 week radio promo tour, and then after that, take a month off to do rehearsals for a tour and final planning of a tour, that'd be starting off the winter with a tour, then after a couple of years touring, they take and release another live album, and then another rare tracks collection, along with the occasional re-release of High Voltage, then TNT, then Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, and then Let There Be Rock along with the Powerage UK version. That is all my theory, nothing true (except for the SUL part), this is what I'd do if I were AC/DC though.

A) Hadn't planned on doing anything special. B) Probably not, my cd from 2000 rarely gets played as is C) Not likely this will lead to a new album, especially less than a month after it is released. That would mean they would be either in the process of or done recording by now from what I know about recording an album (which isn't much).

I don't mean to be rude, but this is one of your worst theories ever Travis. We haven't had any real news since 2005 with the Brian Johnson on Nights with Alice radio show. When they have finished, we will know. My idea is that they are too old to want to do anything. They have been going at it for 30 years. They are tired, they are old. Ballbreaker was reissued a few years ago and nothing else happened. I doubt (and I hope I'm wrong) that we will see much, if anything, from the band ever again.

Ballbreaker - 2004 Family Jewels - 2005 *anything* in '06? Stiff Upper Lip - 2007 *new album* - 2007/2008/2009 I've also heard a rumor that's on Amazon of a proposed US release of Rock Masters, now that we need, along with a re-release of No Bull (with a better audio track) and Stiff Upper Lip Live.

Why sign with Epic and not release anything new?? If that is the case, they should have stayed with Time Warner (Atlantic/Elektra) and retire.

I can't agree with Travis' theory but I believe that AC/DC will again release an album. I agree with Jeff's fact about signing the contract with Epic. There would have been no point to it so we will hear new tracks in the future some time I think. I am still hanging onto the rumors that it will be a double album. All I know is, I would kill for some more unreleased Bon tracks like the ones from Volts. Demo tracks, alternate lyric versions, anything!!!!

Or for the I'm A Rebel demo to finally surface officially, now that'd be absokickfuckingasslutely "scruptulescent". Stole the scruptulescent from Will Ferrel, and asbsokickfuckingasslutely is just a word I made up to describe how the buzz that track would create all over music.

+1 on that Jeff. Don't think they'd go thru the trouble with Epic if they weren't gonna release anything besides a back catalog. Also the fact that both Young bros. bought new recording consoles makes me think they're up to something at least. +1 with you acdc74, new Bon sounds would be the dogs nuts. That idea about buying the place next door to Alberts' sounds good. If we got enough heads, we could all split the rent and take turns with the drilling. Every reel of tape would vanish almost instantly, to be mixed, mastered, pressed and released (on the now infamous 'AC/DC Bootlegs' label) inside a week, with all profits being used to follow them on their next $100 a ticket enormodome show. To bootleg it of course........and watch them being old and slow.

I think we have to go with Drew on this one. They are old and the only AC/DC stuff we will ever see is reissued stuff and single member appearences like Cliif and Brian in FL and stuff like that. If you think of them as real people, alot (at least rich ones) will retire at 50+ years of age. They have the money and the life style they planned to get 30 years ago and thats what they have done. They will probably do single appearences to keep people happy and to get out a bit so they don't become hermit's.

well that just hit be below the belt!!! AC/DC retire?? fact that it's taken seven + years to get a new disc on epic records is retirement to a degree. I remember when I was in HS and every frickin year I would take my hard erned cash and by the latest record without hearin a single song! (flick, fly, and who made who)

I have read a couple interviews, in magazines with Angus, and one of them i think with Malcom. Talking how they were working on the new album & signing with epic. (this was in Nov. of 2005) only thing i have heard after that is the radio interview with Brian in Nov. 2006. I really do hope they come out with a new album or a sometime down the road a reunion tour. i would pretty much anything to see them once more.

You know what's really odd about this new release of Stiff Upper Lip? It's labeled as "Columbia".

Haha I'm not pressing any charges! so carry on! I know nothin I see nothin (kinda like shultz from hogans heros) man have I shown my age or what! getting back to the topic....scince I bought the other epic reissue I might as well get the SUP reissue and compare the two and see if its any better. My only gripe is with all these reissues why didn't they put bonus' on the disc vrs going online to get them?! I'm I alone on this gripe?

Jeff, I mean Calli is brilliant because of his plot to rob Alberts for every AC/DC recording. Oh and you're right about the reissues lacking a bonus disc. I have a lot of difficulty trying to watch/listen the bonus material from connecteD.

I have the same as well, can't record it on a cd burner when it skips alot, I'm hoping for a faster service might help with this problem.(internet service) and yes cliff that would be brilliant to get the alberts vault in our hands. (I mean listen, not burn haha)

I'm runnin' broadband here and still get occasional problems with the connecteD stuff. I'd rather have bonus discs too, I don't think half the web stuff is worth the fuss.

Heck, I only really got the Epic remasters for the little booklets with the info and pics.

man I have gotten almost all formats...LP,cassette,cd, atlantic remaster, epic remasters so hey I have given lots of cash to the boys but wtf who cares? the other copies are worn out or my kids scratched them up when they were litttle. I do like the booklets and the quality does sound a little better. but hey...give us something we don't already have...BONUS TRACKS!! and like ya said travishayes89....columbia??!!??

Right on Jeff. I made the mistake of buying all the Epic remasters individualy (I already had Higway to Hell on Atlantic but it skipped) which was a mistake $ wise, then i imported the UK remastered Stiff Upper Lip and Ballbreaker. I thought my official AC/DC audio collection was complete. No it wasnt. Later I learned about the original Aus. albums and I went looking for them but I'm not paying 121.00 for the 4 cds. So after being bloodthirsty for the imports i learn about the Stiff Upper Lip double disc version. I buy it. I'm an idiot, you wanna know why? I didnt buy the 17 album set (complete with the 4 aus. versions, live double disc and stiff upper lip doulbe dic. S a word of advice for someone getting in to AC/DC just buy the 17 cd box set, you wont regret it.

Hate to bring this up again... but I gotta agree with Drew, like seriously it could also be there running out of ideas, like I read in a book that malcolm saying that rock albums are the hardest to write, they all gotta sound the same. I think what will happen is that they will jsut go on short tours like something like Live Earth or SARS.. Though I have heard that it will be a triple album, like one Bon Era album, one Brian Era album then the new one... though I dono what to believe anymore

im leaning on the disagree with what was posted earlier about them releasing all of these ridiculously rare tracks, because you do have to remember the fact that us bootleggers are the ones who consider all the rare tracks common since we have no problem whatsoever getting our hands on, and the average fan would shoot themselves hearing something different that is on no official albums, but if we heard it we just say, yeah i heard it a million times, but i really doubt that AC/DC is throwing in the towel on the new album, cause they are saying that they are working on new material and thats not the type of band that is going to just lie to the fans. and they did also say the only way they would is if they thought "they werent cutting the mustard" and their popularity is growing even more, their tracks are getting constant airplay, more material is either released or reissued, so lets not jump to the conclusion that they arent going to record, plus as posted good music is hard to find
