Members Pages
Riff Raff I've made some great progress on putting together the new members section for acdc-bootlegs.com. This will be kind of a 'MySpace' sort of deal where the members of this site can post information about themselves. At the moment, there will be 5 sections to start, with more to come. I have the bulk of the hard work done, but still have a bit to do before it's ready for the public. I will be sending out a special Christmas day newsletter and will give a link to my testing site and hopefully get some feedback on what you all think. To start, here are the sections that will be available for any member that wants to put the effort into them: Home Page - This page will let you introduce yourself and also list any updates you've made to your site recently. Trade List - If you already have a trade list, yours will be automatically converted to the new format. If you don't have one and would like one, I'll be setting them up again early next year. This is a great way to keep track of your bootlegs and make your list easily accessible to others to set up new trades. Blog - If you'd like to keep a blog, this can be your spot. It'll be pretty basic to start, but I hope to add new functionality as time goes on and people get more involved and use it more often. Just a place to share what you're thinking, either AC/DC related or not. My Collection - This is the spot to upload photos and information about the different AC/DC items in your collection. LP's, CD's, cassettes, 8 tracks, ticket stubs...you name it, you can upload a picture and information on it! A perfect gallery for you to show off everything you've got! Contact - A simple contact form that will allow anyone to get in touch with you without you having to hand out or post your email address for spammers to grab. Until you reply to the message you receive, the user cannot see your email address and they must be signed into the site in order to contact you. There will be more sections added in the future, and you can choose to show/not show any you don't wish to. I've started a place to sell some items that is tied in directly with the Collection page & I'm thinking a photo gallery will be one of the next to be added and who knows what else after that. There will also be an 'official' members page that will allow you to post your location on a map so we can see where everyone lives and show other random stats on people. So that's the overview. If you have any thoughts, I'd love to hear them. This new members section will be about you guys, so I want to have something there that you'll use and enjoy.
you looking to usurp the Bebo's and Myspaces of the world there Nate? Seriously though, it sounds great, where you get the energy from I dont know, take my hat off to ya Dave
sounds great man, i cant wait to see it, youve been doing a hell of a lot with this site and is more and more of a place that us AC/DC members can really call a homey website
Nice, this seems like a good way of enhancing this website's community, since it will allow a bit of a personal level to be added.
Nate, I love this idea. Thank you kindly for putting in all this extra effort and hard work. It always amazes me that someone in Germany, France, Russia, Brazil or wherever worships this band as much as I do. I have made a lot of friends through AC/DC bootleg trading and sharing and I love the personal touch that you are adding to your site. Everyone has their own interests. For example, one of my best friends is the President of the Ducati club in Michigan. Motorcycles are not my thing but it has always been what he loves and they have a website very similiar to your site where they make posts and talk about issues and schedule events etc.. It's just good to know that an informative site such as yours is such a great place for everyone to share their common interest which in this case happens to be a rock band. Totally looking forward to the upcoming changes. Take care and have a great Christmas.
Without a doubt this is the best enhancement since I joined this site. I'm very impressed you built this site brick by brick by yourself while supporting a family. It's our turn to put in the effort and take this beyond even what you envision. Thanks.
