Hey i got a FTATR era bootleg labeled the name above. I no one seems to have it and the concert history says a recording of this date doesnt exist at all. I know they played 2 nights at a Birmingham in London (btw Live Wire was said to be played there also) but the set list are different and the one I have sounds more like the USA part of the tour. Please would someone help me identify this bootleg, Thanks -cliff

I have the 1/17/82 concert which supposedly is 15 tracks. I am missing Track 6. Personally, I think this one is a FAKE but I haven't burned it yet or had a chance to listen to it. Once I do, I will report. Thanks

just because the concert history doesn't list it as existing doesn't mean it couldn't exist. there have been many shows that have surfaced that were not marked in the concert history. i'm guessing that by fake, scotty means that the show is labeled incorrectly.

Yeah, just look at what happened on Plug Me In. St. Alban's and Houston 1983 weren't even listed, but they exist. Also, if it is a fake, it's not the first I've heard of.

Riff Raff/Nate, Yes, I meant labeled incorrectly and/or somebody is trying to pass off a different concert as this date for example. Some people (assholes) like to pass off certain concerts as totally rare in order to rip people off when doing trades. Perhaps it's a version that has FTATR and it is unclear as to what city Brian says "we salute you city X". Other times, people may use different tracks from different concerts and claim the audio simply sounds DRASTICALLY different from song to song because of the recorder. YEAH, RIGHT!!! Other times, they may not include FTATR at all and try to pass the concert off as whatever they are claiming. There have been a couple that I can think of recently. Like I said, I am not sure yet of this one (Birmingham, Alabama) but I am in 100% agreement with Nate that just because something is not listed on his concert history or Nate is not showing that an audio or video bootleg exists, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is a fake BUT I have seen some bullshit lately that is disturbing. I keep seeing Sept. 5, 1980 San Francisco Cow Palace which a couple of other Riff Raff members and I think is fake. Also, I have seen a supposed rehearsal from Sept. 3, 1985 before they played the Binghampton show on Sept. 4, 1985. I downloaded it and listened to it. I noticed that this track was very long in length with the first 1/3 and last 1/3 of the track there really wasn't any noise at all. In the middle was simply a rehearsal of Riff Raff. I could tell by what Brian was saying at the beginning of the song that I had heard that before and I immediately double checked the rehearsal soundcheck bootleg from July 1986 New Orleans. Sure enough, someone simply pulled Riff Raff from that soundcheck. I was also fooled a long time ago and I still need to remove this from Nate's site still actually>>>someone kept claiming that they had July 23, 1978 Oakland, California from the Oakland Coliseum "Day On The Green Festival". That bootleg was really the audio from Cleveland July 28, 1979. In addition, I believe that we are all in agreement with Nate's information that the "Day On The Green Festival" is really July 21, 1979 anyway and only the Dog Eat Dog video is in existence. How many years have we all been mislabeling December 12, 1976 when it really should have been December 5, 1976? Basically, I just hate when people make shit up and fake bootlegs etc. because that is totally not cool. I just want to know that the bootlegs that we are all getting are the true concert recording no matter how good or how bad the audio or video quality is and that the correct recording date is given.

Nate, i dont really know what kind of process a date has to go through before it gets labeled as having a recording available. I figured you didnt know about it or you new it was a fake. Travis, the stuff on Plug Me In has been in vaults for who knows how long. I dont think 1 bootleg trader knew of the St. Albans, Houston , or Largo 83 and so on and we have to wait for what is released officialy and then mark all the info. the "january birmingham 82" gig has been circulating for a while. I found the show in the Let There Be Rock forum and who knows who got and uploaded it and how many people did download it and trade it to other people. So i guess Nate and others dont really know too much about this show. for the first night of rock In Rio 85, and when i got it it was a mix of both nights at Rio and a bit of Dec 21st Largo 81 too. So lets hope we can identify this bootleg. -Cliff

Cliff, Thanks for the research. I think I did the same thing a long time ago and checked like you did but this was like last year or something and that is why I put fake next to my file name. I share the whole Jan. 24, 1982 on the hub WITH BBBoogie as well. Feel free to grab it.
