DVD Help
Hey does any one know a way to get my Largo on to a DVD. there are the IFO, BUP and VOB files and I tried using Nero and DVD Shrink but when I put in to my DVD player (pretty crappy that might be the problem) it doesn't work. Any help is appreciated SR
well DVD shrink is usually a pretty good program, but i do not recommend you make DVDs with it, just back up dvds, have you tried a different speed? sometimes that is known to help, i can almost assure you it may be your DVD player, first how does it play in the dvd drive on your computer, if it is ok, then the player could be it, many dvd players out there are a problem when it comes to playing burned DVDs, i personally am lucky because many of my discs turn out fine, but i have had friends borrow my burned movies and told me they were skipping or plain not playing, so that is a very common problem, what is the Nero problem? is it the same thing? ive usually used that with no problems at all, whenever i do have one with it it is usually just it will not burn, i hope this gave you some help, just a bunch of tips on it, if still a problem keep throwing out questions
OK it plays good on my computer but is there any way to get it to work on the DVD player or would it still be the DVD speed. SR
possibly the speed, what are you writing it with? SP, LP, SLP, EP? usually using EP which just like on VHS gives more recording space, but sometimes can be a pain for some players, try using the SP or LP, depending if the show will fit that way
I think that the Largo concert (oddly) is PAL. Do you live in the US? Cause most DVD players here in the US are NTSC.
Well I tried it a couple different ways, making it into an ISO image with Power ISO and then burning it with DVD Decrypter. Then I tried it with DVD Shrink by using the ISO from Power ISO and burning it with DVD Shrink. Then I tried it with just DVD shrink using the files. Then I tried it with Nero with the default settings. Then I used Ulead DVD Factory with the DVD files. All of these just yeilded the same result, it just says the DVD could not be played. I would kind of like to figure this out cause I'm going to start running out of money for DVD's after all im just a school kid. SR
i dont think that will make a difference, when using Nero and other dvd burning software is usually makes them region free, unless you change that setting, but dont sweat it scooter i understand how ya feel being a schoolkid with not much money, being that i am one myself, but if the discs are working in your DVD drive i am going to lean toward the fact it is your player. Do you have another? possibly try playing it on that, what type of file is this? MPEG? AVI? or is it made up of backup DVD files?
Region settings and video standard (NTSC/PAL/SECAM) are separate. PAL is 25 frames per second, while NTSC (the standard for North America) plays at about 30. Most players these days can handle both PAL and NTSC, however. Scooter, are you burning the disc with the DVD files within VIDEO_TS folder, along with an empty AUDIO_TS folder? These are required for a DVD player to correctly play a DVD.
Also, here's a tip. When in Nero...go to the video tab and click burn DVD video files. Just burning them straight to the disc doesn't work right (oddly...)
Ok the files are the VOBs and all of that other stuff I just downloaded it from TTD. BrianJohnson888 I will try that and get back to you. I will also check the settings on Nero to see if it is that it is burning it in PAL format because im guessing my DVD player wouldnt play it. Thanks everyone for the quick help. SR
Nero doesn't have a setting regarding PAL or NTSC when it comes to burning DVD files. Your DVD player either plays PAL, or doesn't. However, if your player isn't compatible with PAL DVDs, you can pick up a cheap player for about $50. The cheap ones tend to play everything these days; sometimes even better than some of the more expensive models.
I figured it out... The DVD I got was from the traders den and that was a PAL DVD and my dvd player doesnt play those. I guess it was simpler than I thought... SR
