Divx, Xvid, or something else?
Which programs would you recommend for encoding from a DVD source, for uploading onto the net? I've noticed that my Divx player will also play Xvid, So its between these two formats. I'm currently using the Standard Divx Converter Pro, But I dont like the Divx Logo being added the first 10 seconds of each file. I'm about to start uploading some videos to TPB, and I want to make sure I'm putting out the best quality possible. (I know that an ISO would be the best quality, but its a bandwidth hog. I've got a 125 KB upload cap.) Thanks Thanks...
Well, DivX is good. As for the logo, you can turn that off. It's just a decoder function. This should better be answered by Nate.
I learned one way to rip videos to avi just over 2 years ago and have been doing it the same way since. I use a program called VirtualDub. After I import the video from the dvd file, I set a compression setting using the divx codec I have installed. I'm sure there are many other ways to do this, but this works for me so I'm sticking to it. I'm no expert by any means.
Personally I prefere Xvid because it's not that pixelated and you don't have any watermarks at the beginning. I'd like to recommend you the video size of 512x384 for full size screen.
